History of the Domaine Charlevoix
In the early 90’s, the Domaine Charlevoix was originally a parcel of agricultural and forest land converted into a park to allow the local and tourist population to discover the natural beauty of this enchanting site. Founded by Dr. André Gilbert, this huge land of 520 acres was welcoming up to 20 000 visitors per year. Thanks to its positionning of 390 meters of altitude, this site was offering an exceptionnal view over the St. Lawrence River and the Isle-aux-Coudres. Staked by hiking trails and french gardens, the visitors were welcomed in an Anglo-Norman style ward. A restaurant with a panoramic terrace offered musical dinners and brunchs. A tea house was also located on the shore of a small artificial lake to allow the visitors a moment of pure relaxation. Many lookout towers, ponds, fountains and waterfalls were scattered around the site. The hiking trails were liven up in music and lights as speakers, hidden in trees, were playing classical music.
In 2004, the Société de Développement Domaine Charlevoix acquired the site. A large-scale real estate project begins and targets a prestigious customer base thanks to its 170 lots. Some of these locations offer a partial or panoramic view over the magnificient St. Lawrence River or on the mountains and the surrounding forest. This exceptionnal real estate project offers a controlled environment to ensure the nature preservation as well as the tranquillity of the site. The Laure-Conan park, which is a entirely private park, gives access to the residents to over 8 km of hiking trails and to a small lake located in the heart of the domain.
Everything has been implemented to guarantee the residents of the Domaine Charlevoix, an exceptionnal environment of relaxtion where respect and nature work as one.
